ROUNDHOUSE BASIC SERIES
Roundhouse offers a range of inexpensive locomotives which they
call the 'Basic Series’. Offered in ready to run form with
slip-eccentric valve gear and gas firing but capable of being easily
enhanced by the customer, using accessory packs. A great deal of development
has preceded the launch of this range to enable Roundhouse to offer models of a
lesser specification and lower price than those of the ‘Classic Series’ without
compromising their reputation for performance and reliability. To achieve this,
they have evolved a very simple basic concept that uses the minimum number of parts
and is very quick to manufacture.
The Basic Series will appeal not only to ‘first time buyers’ who have to purchase a complete
railway with their hard earned cash, but also the ‘well heeled’ operator who just
wants a simple but reliable fill up and go loco.
Standard fittings are safety valve, displacement lubricator, gas burner control and
throttle.
All Roundhouse Basic locomotives will operate on LGB 600mm radius (2'-0")
track. The locomotives all share inside framed chasis with double acting
slide valve cylinders operated by slip eccentric valve gear.
Basic Series locomotives are available in either 32mm or 45mm gauge
(non adjustable). Please state the gauge when ordering.
NOTE: Insulated wheels are not available on Basic Series models and
a long gas fill adaptor is required.
